Week 101 - Studio City's Woodbridge Park: an Uncannily Familiar Neighborhood
October 08, 2017Walking L.A. #11, Studio City's Woodbridge Park: an Uncannily Familiar Neighborhood, 1.5 miles (we stretched into 3 mi.)
A super busy day for me required a hike close to home, but everyday sights look new experienced on foot. We left my back door and walked 1/2 mile to Tujunga Avenue then east into the little elbow of Studio City south of Moorpark and north of the L.A. river. Historic significance? Well, aside from the Brady Bunch house on Dilling, none. Charm? Loaded with it! A murder of crows loitered outside houses decorated for Halloween. Little Free Libraries offered reading materials. And Barbara and I indulged in what I think of as "Lotto House Shopping"—the homes each one of us might buy when we win the lottery. A quiet, hidden, well kept neighborhood with a few too many McMansions for our taste, but great exercise on a quiet Sunday morning. We hiked to Woodbridge Park, home of Tai-Chi classes, playground equipment, and delirious dog romps, then turned around and hiked back to the big payoff of the morning: mochas at Aroma.
