Week 91 - High Tower and the Hollywood Bowl: Hideaway in the Hills
July 09, 2017Walking L.A. #16: High Tower and the Hollywood Bowl: Hideaway in the Hills, 1.3 miles.
Blistering heat dictated a short hike this morning, 83 degrees when Barbara and I started out at 7:30am to return to Hollywood Heights, a charming neighborhood of walk streets and quaint architecture surrounding High Tower, a five-story private elevator designed and built in 1920. The tower has been featured in films, TV, and at least two Connelly novels. The 1920s and 1930s homes, some hidden behind private doors on the walk street, feel like a walk through old Hollywood. We finished with a stroll through Highland-Camrose Park to the 1940, art deco, George Stanley Fountain marking the entrance to the Hollywood Bowl. Short, but sweet, and we beat the heat.
